Here in Saudi Arabia, the weekend starts on Wednesday after work. So basically, Wednesday is like Friday in America. So, Thursday and Friday are like Saturday and Sunday. I’ve always known that about Saudi Arabia, but now that I’m actually living here, it’s taking some time to adjust to it.
So, after work, I came home, cooked food for my husband and I, took a 20 minute nap, and put together our computer desk that we bought and never had the time to put it together till today. It’s made out of grey and silver metal pieces with a glass top. I will take some pictures and post them inshAllah.
After a’aisha prayer, we went to a new mall that opened a few weekends ago, but we never went to. It’s called Marina Mall. It had many cute shops and the 2nd floor was almost all shops for fancy evening gowns! If I ever had a wedding or a big celebration to go to, I would be lost and confused as to what I would buy! They all were soooo gorgeous!
Right across that mall, was another mall (yeah, isn’t that weird!?) called Riyadh Gallery, but it’s much, much bigger and much, much nicer than Marina Mall. So we went there too, walked around, and then got Starbucks. I got the Carmel Frappicino. Bassam didn’t get anything, as he usually doesn’t, he can’t have anything from Starbucks cause of his food allergies.
Now we are home and I’m feeling down and really sad. I talked to my mom today and she is still in the hospital. I miss her soooo much and just wish I was there with her and with my family now. Times like these make me wonder if we had made the right choice by coming all the way to Saudi Arabia. Again, I’m really getting accustomed to being here, but no matter what, I can’t stop missing my family and America in general! Please make dua’a (a prayer) for my mom. My family and I would be completely grateful.
Much Love, HKA in KSA
