Day 13- Signing the Contract… Finally!

Today I didn’t go to work, but instead I went to the HR Department to finish my paperwork for employment. I had to submit a list of documents they needed in order to write up my contract. While I was in Ohio over the summer, I made sure I had everything I needed. Some things I had to send to the Saudi Embassy in Washington DC for them to authenticate.

After about 4 hours at the HR Department, the sweet girl that was working on my case, came up to me and said “Congratulations, your contact is ready for you to sign!” I was very excited, and I was even more excited when I actually signed it. Yaaay. So now I have a full ONE year contract with King Saud University! It will automatically renew every year, unless they don’t want me anymore or I don’t want them anymore!

I also met two professors while I was there who came from the Philippines to work at KSU. One is an English professor and the other will be teaching a computer class. I had to help them a bit with translation since they didn’t know any Arabic, of course, I didn’t mind, I also love translating for people.

Afterwards, I went to Samia’s house. We hung out at her house until Bassam picked me up at around 11 pm. We had fun, just talking, and eating, and drinking coffee. Hanoofa was there too, but she fell asleep since she hasn’t been sleeping for the past 3 days because her son was sick. But al7emdallah, he was feeling much better today.

While I was there, I get a call from my husband telling me that the closet cabinet guys are on their way to our house to install it in our bedroom. I got really excited cause I’ve been living off of my boxes and suitcases and I’ve been waiting for it so I could start putting my clothes and things away. Well, when I came home and saw it, I was extremely impressed! It looked lovely. I mean, it was a basic design, and we picked white wood, but nevertheless, it was very well built. So, inshAllah, this weekend I will organize my clothes in it and stop living from my boxes!

I’m debating if I want to go make me a sandwich or just call it a night. Either way, good night and sweet dreams.
