Day 42- Picnic at the Park

Wednesday October 28th, 2009

Way before the conference, I’ve wanted to go to the park for a picnic. My brother and is wife are big time park and nature lovers, so they’ve been wanting to go even more so than my husband and I. We stopped by the Shawaya House and got some food from there: rice, grilled chicken, salad, hummus, pop, and we headed to the park.

It was a “public” park, but you still had to pay 5 SR to get in, which is equivalent to $1.33, so it wasn’t a big deal. We got there around Maghreb Salat time, so Kristi and I put out the carpet and the coffee and sweets while Bassam and Talal went to go pray. When they came back, we decided to move and go set up picnic somewhere else. We found the perfect place right next to the lake! Yes, a LAKE in the middle of the park (ok, it was a man-made lake, but it was still a lake). We ate our food, took pictures, and then we decided to go for a walk.

Talal and Kristi, with the baby stroller and Karoomi in it, wanted to power-walked. So we said, “More power to you guys!” lol I was too tired to walk fast, so was Bassam. So we split with them. Afterwards, we learn that Talal got on the horse rides and rode a real horse! How fun is that! Before we left the park, I decided to get some ice-cream and we left at around 10 pm!

It’s almost midnight now and I’m going to bed.

Much Love, HKA in KSA
